Ode to Toyah is an instrumental guitar and looper project inspired by the film Sir Cowboy , directed by Chris Hergert, and shaped by the West Texas landscape, Fort Stockton, Toyah, and the strange dusty mythology surrounding the shoot.

and field notes from the road.

01. After the Sandstorm
A motel-room field note from the middle of a West Texas sandstorm: the door open, the balcony outside almost erased by dust, the endless desert temporarily replaced by a wall of moving sand.
02. Creepin Through Texas
Boots, mirror shards, desert dirt, and something alive moving low across the ground. A creeping little piece of the Sir Cowboy mythology.
03. Deep Surface Contact
A sarcastic little meditation on film-set intimacy: everyone is deeply connected until wrap, and then suddenly the whole universe vanishes.
04. Dissident
Slow, spacey, off-center, and slightly out of tune with the world. A figure moving through town like he belongs nowhere and everywhere at once.
05. Fort Stockton Blues
Walking out into lights, fans, noise, and attention — while somehow feeling alone in the middle of all of it.
06. Lone Star
A phone lights up, a text sound cuts through the track, and suddenly you’re looking for the same phone you’re already listening on.
07. Pete, Look Up
A tribute, a joke, and a tiny Toyah legend: Pete next door, making noise at exactly the wrong time, bargaining silence for supplies.
08. Repeat Again
Long takes, long pauses, no shortcuts. When one person slips, everybody resets. Again from the top.
09. Short and Sweet Semi
Rows of semis, truck-stop light, and the strange temporary community of drivers gathered in the middle of nowhere.
10. Starlight
Big Texas sky. Stars like a blanket. A slow, trippy guitar piece staring upward into the endless dark.
11. What’s It Toyah?
A punky little four-on-the-floor joke aimed straight at the town itself. Three characters, one dusty road, population 25, and a question nobody really needs answered.
12. Where’s Carlos?
A junkyard search party with a Latin-flavored guitar pulse. Somewhere in the debris, maybe Carlos is hiding. Maybe he was never there. Maybe that’s the whole damn joke.
